Yes, Tom Cruise Is Open to Tackling A Superhero Role

During his nearly four-decade career, Hollywood icon Tom Cruise has dabbled in most every genre, from romance and psychological thriller to war drama and sci-fi, Yet, despite rumors that have linked him to the roles of Iron Man and Green Lantern, hasn’t made the leap to superhero movies. However, he’s not ruling it out.

At the recent CinemaCon expo in Las Vegas, the 55-year-old Cruise was asked whether his Mission: Impossible – Fallout co-star Henry Cavill had tried to steer him toward the world of superheroes. “No, we haven’t talked about that, actually,” he told MTV, before the conversation turned to whether he has interest in suiting up.

“You know, there’s always another mountain in anything, in anything,” Cruise said. “I’ll never say no if I find something that’s interesting and I think an audience would like to see it and they’ll be entertained by it, and I feel like I could contribute something to it.”

Cavill, who’s known for his role as Superman in the DC Extended Universe, has said he thinks it would be “interesting” to see what Cruise could bring to a superhero movie.

There’s no denying the popularity of superhero movies at the moment, with a whole host of major acting talent making up both the Marvel and DC live-action world. In particular, the likes of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has a slew of big-name castings that included Sylvester Stallone, Michelle Yeoh and other Mission: Impossible alumni Ving Rhames.

Given that the Marvel is pushing ahead with another 20 movies beyond Avengers 4 and that the DCEU has an equally large slate planned, there is more than enough room for a Hollywood megastar like Cruise to find a role.
